The Research School in Economic Demography is an integral part of the CED. While the school does not formally admit students, its goal is to provide high-quality training in economic demography through both theoretical and methodological courses. The school provides two two-week intensive courses per year based on a rotating schedule of courses highlighting the research taking place at the Centre. Additionally, the school offers short workshops on topics of current interest. Admission to the courses is open to anyone, regardless of nationality or home institution, and the school pays the accommodations for all those admitted to the courses. In case of excess demand for a given course, priority will be given to those students whom the steering committee feels will benefit the most .
In addition to the courses, the Research School arranges a yearly PhD student conference, where 10 PhD students are selected to present their work to a group of senior researchers during a two-day conference usually arranged at Grand Hotel in Mölle, Sweden. The amount of time devoted to each paper has been of great value to the thesis work of past students.
